Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about booking and traveling around Iceland.

What is PickNord?

PickNord is a travel marketplace where you book rental cars, campervans, places to stay, tours, and activities from local providers, all in one place.

Can I book a car, a stay, and tours together?

Yes. You can put every part of the trip into one cart and pay once, with instant confirmation for each booking.

Are prices final, or do fees get added later?

Prices are shown in Icelandic krona with VAT included. Any deposit or optional extra is shown on the listing before you pay, so the price you see is the price you pay.

Do I need a 4x4 in Iceland?

For the ring road and paved routes, a regular car is fine in summer. For highland F-roads a 4x4 is required by law, and in winter a 4x4 gives you a safety margin. Listings marked F-roads OK are allowed on those routes.

When can I see the northern lights?

Roughly late August to mid April, on dark and clear nights away from city lights. Many travelers pair a northern lights tour with a stay outside Reykjavík.

When is the best time to visit Iceland?

Summer brings the midnight sun and open highland roads, winter brings the northern lights and ice caves, and the shoulder seasons bring lower prices and fewer crowds. There is no wrong answer.

Can I cancel or change a booking?

Each listing shows its cancellation policy before you pay. Many bookings can be cancelled free within the policy window, and changes go through the provider directly.

Who are the providers on PickNord?

Local rental companies, guesthouses, hotels, and tour operators. Every provider is verified before their listings go live, and ratings come from travelers who actually booked.
