Terms of Service

1. Who we are

PickNord ehf. ("PickNord", "we") operates an online marketplace at picknord.is connecting travelers with independent Icelandic providers ("hosts") of vehicle rentals, accommodation, tours and activities. We are the marketplace operator; the travel service itself is provided by the host named on your booking.

2. Your account

• You must be 18 or older to create an account and book.
• Keep your credentials safe; you are responsible for activity on your account.
• Provide accurate information; hosts rely on it for handovers and check-ins.

3. Bookings and contracts

• When you complete checkout, a contract for each booked item forms directly between you and that item's host, with PickNord acting as commercial agent.
• Your booking is confirmed when payment succeeds (instant book) or when the host accepts your request within the stated deadline.
• Booking references and vouchers must be presented at pickup, check-in or the meeting point.

4. Prices and payment

• All prices are set in Icelandic króna (ISK) and include Icelandic VAT (VSK) where applicable. Foreign-currency displays are estimates at ECB reference rates; your card is charged in ISK.
• The checkout total includes the item price, chosen extras, VAT and the platform service fee. No hidden charges are added after checkout.

5. Cancellations and changes

• Each listing shows its cancellation policy before you book; the refund on cancellation is calculated from that policy.
• When a host cancels (including weather cancellations of tours) you choose a full refund or a free rebooking.
• No-shows are treated under the listing's cancellation policy.

6. Vehicle rentals

• Drivers must meet the age and licence requirements stated on the listing.
• Insurance coverages and excess amounts are stated per listing; driving on non-permitted F-roads, river crossings and off-road driving void coverage and are illegal where marked.
• Condition handovers at pickup and return, recorded in the platform, are binding on both parties.

7. Acceptable use

You may not use the platform to circumvent fees, harass hosts or travelers, post false reviews, scrape data, or break Icelandic law. We may suspend accounts that do.

8. Liability

PickNord is liable for operating the marketplace with due care. The travel services are the responsibility of the host, without limiting your statutory consumer rights. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Icelandic law.

9. Disputes

Contact support first; most issues are resolved there. These terms are governed by Icelandic law; venue is Héraðsdómur Reykjavíkur unless mandatory consumer law provides otherwise. EU/EEA consumers may also use the ODR platform.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; material changes are announced 30 days in advance to registered users. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page.
