Booking on PickNord

How the cart, checkout and confirmations work.

How does booking work?

Search, add cars, stays, tours and activities to one cart, and pay once. Every item gets its own voucher under a single booking reference (IS-XXXXXX).

What's the difference between instant book and a request?

Instant book confirms the moment you pay. Request-to-book gives the host a deadline to accept; if they decline or the request expires, you're refunded in full automatically.

Where do I find my voucher?

In your confirmation email and in your account's bookings page. Showing it on your phone is fine at pickup, check-in or the meeting point.

Can I book for someone else?

Yes: add their details where the booking asks for the driver or lead guest. The account holder remains responsible for the booking.

Payments, refunds & cancellations

Prices in ISK, VAT included, refunds per the listing's policy.

What currency am I charged in?

Everything settles in Icelandic króna (ISK). Prices shown in EUR or USD are live estimates at ECB rates; your bank does the final conversion on your statement.

Are there hidden fees?

No. The checkout total shows the item price, chosen extras, VAT (included in displayed prices) and the platform service fee. Nothing is added after you pay.

How do cancellations work?

Each listing carries a policy (flexible, moderate, strict or non-refundable) shown before you book. Cancelling calculates your refund from that policy and shows the amount before you confirm.

How long do refunds take?

Refunds go to your original payment method. Once processed, banks typically take 5–10 business days to show the money.

What if the host cancels on me?

You always choose between a full refund and a free rebooking, including weather cancellations of tours. Host cancellations never cost you money.

Driving in Iceland

Licences, insurance, F-roads and winter.

What do I need to rent a car?

A full licence held at least a year (plus an International Driving Permit if it isn't in Latin script), the minimum age on the listing (usually 20, higher for 4x4s), and a credit card in the main driver's name for the deposit.

Which insurance should I take?

CDW is usually included. Gravel protection is strongly recommended outside Reykjavík, and sand & ash protection if you drive the south coast. Every option's excess is shown on the listing before you book.

Can I drive F-roads?

Only in a 4x4 whose listing explicitly allows F-roads, and only while they're open (roughly mid-June to September). River crossings are never insured, and off-road driving is illegal everywhere in Iceland.

What about winter driving?

Rentals come with winter tyres in season. Check road.is and safetravel.is daily; storms close roads at short notice, and hosts take weather cancellations seriously.

Stays, tours & activities

Check-in, meeting points and the Icelandic weather.

When can I check in?

Each stay shows its check-in window; arrival details (codes, directions, parking) arrive in the booking chat and on your voucher. Arriving late? Message the host; they're used to flight times.

Where does my tour leave from?

Your voucher shows either an exact meeting point with a map link (arrive 15 minutes early) or a pickup arrangement with a time window.

What happens if weather cancels my tour?

The operator cancels when it's unsafe or pointless, and you choose a full refund or a free move to another departure. Northern-lights tours often offer a free retry on a later night.

What should I bring?

Each listing has a what-to-bring list. The all-Iceland answer: waterproof layers, sturdy shoes, and swimwear (there's always a hot spring nearby).

Hosting on PickNord

For locals with a car, a guesthouse or a tour to share.

Who can become a host?

Icelandic individuals and companies offering vehicles, accommodation, tours or activities. You register your service with its credentials (business registration, operating licence, insurance, whatever your category needs) and our team verifies it.

What does it cost?

Listing is free. PickNord takes a commission per booking; the exact breakdown for your price is shown live in the listing builder before you publish.

When do I get paid?

Payouts go to your Icelandic IBAN on the schedule you pick: on check-in, on completion, or weekly. Every payout is itemized against its booking in your earnings page.

How long does verification take?

Typically 24–48 hours. You can build draft listings while you wait; publishing unlocks the moment you're approved.
