Host Terms
Version 1.0 · effective 4 July 2026
1. Who these terms are for
These terms apply to every host: any person or company that lists a vehicle, accommodation, tour or activity on picknord.is. They supplement the Terms of Service; where the two differ for hosts, these terms apply. By creating a host account or publishing a listing you accept them.
2. Becoming a host
- Provide accurate identity and business information, including your kennitala and, where required, your operating licence (rekstrarleyfi) or Ferðamálastofa registration.
- Listings publish only after verification. We may request documents (ID, business registration, insurance, vehicle registration, guide certification) and re-request them when they expire.
- Home accommodation (heimagisting) hosts are responsible for staying within the legal 90-day annual cap and completing the required registration.
3. Your listings
- Describe your service truthfully. Vehicle condition, licence requirements, included insurance, house rules, meeting points and difficulty levels must match reality.
- You must own or have the right to use every photo and text you upload. You grant PickNord a non-exclusive licence to display and promote that content on the platform and in marketing for it.
- You set your prices in ISK. Displayed prices include Icelandic VAT (VSK) where applicable; you are responsible for your own VAT registration and reporting.
4. Commission and fees
- PickNord charges a commission per completed booking: 15% for vehicle rentals and accommodation, 20% for tours and activities, calculated on the item price and deducted before payout.
- Travelers additionally pay a 5% platform service fee at checkout; it is not deducted from your payout.
- Current rates are always visible in the host portal. Rate changes are announced at least 30 days in advance and never apply retroactively to confirmed bookings.
5. Bookings
- Instant-book listings confirm automatically. Request-based bookings must be answered before the stated deadline; expired requests are declined and refunded automatically.
- A confirmed booking is a contract between you and the traveler. Honor it: the price, the dates and what the listing promised.
6. Payouts
- Payouts are scheduled when a booking is created and released after the service completes, in ISK, to the payout method in your host account.
- Cancelled or declined items cancel their scheduled payouts. Statements and payout history live in the host portal.
7. When you cancel
- If you cancel a confirmed booking, the traveler always chooses between a full refund and a free rebooking, at no cost to them.
- Weather cancellations of tours follow the same rule.
- Repeated or last-minute host cancellations hurt your ranking and can lead to suspension.
8. Handovers, deposits and damage
- Vehicle pickup and return condition records made in the platform are binding on both parties. Complete them carefully, with photos.
- Security deposits you set on a listing are shown to the traveler before booking and handled per the Deposits & Damage Policy.
- Damage claims must be raised through the platform promptly after return, with evidence. Claims are reviewed; approval is not automatic.
9. Insurance and compliance
- Hold every insurance your service legally requires (third-party vehicle liability, operator liability for tours and activities) and confirm it during onboarding. We may ask for the documents.
- Follow Icelandic law and safety standards at all times, including road law, safety-equipment rules and licensing for guided activities.
10. Reviews
Travelers review completed bookings. You may respond publicly once per review and flag reviews that violate the rules for moderation. You may not pay for, write or trade reviews of your own listings.
11. Suspension and removal
We may unpublish listings or suspend host accounts for: circumventing fees, misrepresentation, unsafe or unlicensed operation, review manipulation, abusive conduct, or breaking Icelandic law. Where possible we warn first; confirmed bookings are wound down under the cancellation rules.
12. Relationship and liability
You are an independent business, not an employee, agent or partner of PickNord. You are responsible for delivering the travel service and for the obligations that come with it. PickNord is responsible for operating the marketplace with due care.
13. Changes
We may update these terms; material changes are announced 30 days in advance in the host portal. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page.
